Sona Tara

Question 1

How do I choose the right size?

Accepted Answer

Every product page has a size chart in inches, measured flat across the garment. Measure a kurta you already own and wear comfortably, then match the chest and length. Our kurtas are a relaxed fit, so if you are between two sizes, take the smaller one. If you are still unsure, send us your usual size in another brand and we will suggest one.

Question 2

Will the colour look the same as the photos?

Accepted Answer

Close, but not exact. All our prints are hand-blocked with natural and azo-free dyes, so there is slight variation between pieces, and screen brightness changes how colours appear. Small irregularities in the print are a feature of hand-blocking, not a defect.

Question 3

Does the fabric shrink after washing?

Accepted Answer

Cotton may shrink by up to 3 percent after the first wash. We pre-wash all cotton fabric before stitching to reduce this, but we still recommend a cold first wash. Chanderi does not shrink noticeably but should be dry-cleaned.

Question 4

How should I wash and care for my kurta?

Accepted Answer

Cotton: hand wash separately in cold water for the first three washes, then machine wash on a gentle cycle. Chanderi: dry-clean only. For both, dry in shade rather than direct sun, which fades hand-block prints quickly. Iron on medium heat, inside out.

Question 5

Is the colour likely to bleed?

Accepted Answer

The first wash may release a little excess dye, which is normal for hand-blocked fabric. Wash separately in cold water for the first three washes and it will settle. Do not soak for more than ten minutes.

Question 6

What is the price range?

Accepted Answer

Cotton kurtas are between Rs 1,290 and Rs 2,190. Chanderi kurtas are between Rs 2,490 and Rs 3,890. Sets with a dupatta start at Rs 3,290. All prices include GST.

Question 7

Do you offer cash on delivery?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on orders up to Rs 3,000, to serviceable pin codes. There is a Rs 60 COD handling charge, shown at checkout. Orders above Rs 3,000 need to be prepaid.

Question 8

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

UPI, all major debit and credit cards, net banking, and cash on delivery within the limits above. We do not accept payment through direct bank transfer or over Instagram DMs - if someone asks you to do that, it is not us.

Question 9

How long will delivery take?

Accepted Answer

Metro cities: 3 to 5 working days. Rest of India: 5 to 8 working days. We dispatch within 48 hours of receiving your order, Monday to Saturday. Made-to-order pieces take longer, see below.

Question 10

What are the delivery charges?

Accepted Answer

Free shipping on all prepaid orders above Rs 1,499. Below that it is Rs 79. COD adds the Rs 60 handling charge.

Question 11

How do I track my order?

Accepted Answer

You will get a tracking link by SMS and email once your parcel is picked up, usually within 48 hours of ordering. If you have not received it after three working days, send us your order number on Instagram or email and we will check.

Question 12

Can I return something if it does not fit?

Accepted Answer

Yes, within 7 days of delivery, provided the garment is unworn and unwashed with the tags still attached. Tell us within 7 days and we will arrange a pickup. Refunds reach your original payment method within 7 to 10 working days of the parcel reaching us. For COD orders we refund by UPI or bank transfer.

Question 13

Can I exchange for a different size instead?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it is usually faster than a return. Message us within 7 days with your order number and the size you want. If the size is in stock we send the replacement as soon as we receive the original. Exchange pickup is free once per order.

Question 14

Are sale items returnable?

Accepted Answer

Items bought at more than 30 percent off are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged, except where the item arrives damaged or is the wrong item. This is marked on each sale product page.

Question 15

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

Accepted Answer

Send us a photo within 48 hours of delivery, along with your order number, and we will replace it at our cost or refund you in full - your choice. Please photograph the parcel before opening it if it looks tampered with, as it helps us with the courier.

Question 16

Do you take custom sizes or alterations?

Accepted Answer

Yes, on cotton kurtas only, for an additional Rs 350. Send your measurements after ordering. Custom-sized pieces take 10 to 12 working days and cannot be returned or exchanged unless there is a fault in the stitching.

Question 17

Do you ship outside India?

Accepted Answer

Not at the moment. We ship across India only, including all union territories. We are looking at international shipping but have no date to share

Question 18

Do you have a physical store?

Accepted Answer

No, we sell online only. We do two or three pop-ups a year in Jaipur and Delhi, which we announce on Instagram about two weeks ahead.

Question 19

Can I order in bulk, for a gift or an event?

Accepted Answer

Yes. For 10 pieces or more, email help@sonatara.example with the quantity, sizes and the date you need them. Bulk orders take 2 to 3 weeks depending on the fabric and are quoted individually. We do not add logos or embroidery.

Question 20

Will an out-of-stock size come back?

Accepted Answer

Usually, but not always, because we print in small batches and some blocks are not repeated. There is a notify-me option on each product page, and that is the most reliable way to hear about a restock.
