Every small business owner faces the same exhausting loop: answer the same customer questions on WhatsApp, email, Instagram DMs, and phone calls - every single day. An AI FAQ generator breaks that loop by turning your business description into a complete, publish-ready FAQ page.
But not all AI FAQ generators do the same job. Some wrap a general-purpose model in a basic interface. Some are knowledge-base products with an AI feature attached. Some produce text and stop there, with no hosted page and no chatbot. This article compares seven of them so you can work out which kind you actually need.
Disclosure: this comparison is published by Answrii, and Answrii is one of the seven tools below. We are not an independent reviewer of our own product, and you should read the Answrii section with that in mind. What we have tried to do instead is describe honestly what each tool is built for, including what ours does not do.
About the competitor details below. Everything stated about the other six tools comes from their own public documentation and pricing pages as we understood them in September 2026. It is not the result of a controlled side-by-side test, and software pricing and features change constantly. Check each vendor's own site before deciding. If you find something here that is out of date, tell us at support@answrii.com and we will correct it.
What to Look for in an AI FAQ Generator
Before the comparison, here's what actually matters:
Output quality - Does the tool generate specific, accurate FAQs or generic filler? "We ship fast" is useless. "We ship via BlueDart in 3-5 business days" is useful.
Multilingual support - If you serve non-English speaking customers, native language generation (not translation) is critical.
Hosted FAQ page - Can you publish the FAQ as a live URL you can share with customers, not just copy-paste text?
Website embed - Can you embed the FAQ on your website without a developer?
Free tier - How much can you do for free before being forced to pay?
Support reply templates - Do you get email/WhatsApp reply templates alongside the FAQ?
AI chatbot - Can the FAQ power a 24/7 chatbot on your website?
The seven are listed alphabetically, not ranked. Answrii comes first because of the letter A, not because we decided it should.
Answrii
Website: answrii.com
Free tier: 5 generations/day, no sign-up required
Paid plans: Starter ₹499/mo ($6) | Pro ₹1,499/mo ($18)
Best for: Small businesses, e-commerce stores, freelancers, coaches
Answrii is purpose-built for small businesses. Unlike generic AI writing tools, it generates two outputs simultaneously: a complete FAQ page (10-15 questions) AND 5 customer support reply templates with subject lines. You paste your business description once and get everything you need to handle 80% of customer questions automatically.
What makes it stand out:
You choose the output language before generating, from 35+ options, and the answers are written in that language rather than translated from English afterwards. Paste a Hindi description, select Spanish, and the FAQ is drafted in Spanish. Whether the result reads well enough to publish is for you to judge, in every language, before it goes live.
The free tier is unusually generous: 5 full FAQ generations per day with zero sign-up required. No credit card, no account. Just paste and generate.
Pro users get a translation feature that lets them generate in one language and publish versions in multiple others, with version tabs showing each language side by side. Each language gets its own page and its own link.
Publishing options are complete:
- •Hosted FAQ page with a shareable URL
- •HTML embed widget for your website (one line of code)
- •AI chatbot widget that answers customer questions from your FAQ (Pro)
- •Copy-paste for WhatsApp and email
Weaknesses: No mobile app. The chatbot is relatively basic compared to enterprise tools like Intercom.
What the output looks like, and the part you cannot skip:
Input: *"We sell handmade leather bags online. Price range ₹1,500-8,000. Ships in 3-5 days via DTDC. Free shipping above ₹3,000. No returns on customised orders. Standard items have 7-day return window."*
From that, the generator drafts questions about delivery times, shipping cost thresholds, and the returns window, and answers each one from the details given.
It will also draft questions the input never answered, such as whether you accept cash on delivery, and it will write an answer for them. That answer is a guess. Any model will do this, and it is the single most important reason to read every line before you publish: a returns window or a payment policy that you did not actually state is a promise a customer can hold you to. Treat the output as a first draft written by someone who has read your description and nothing else.
This article previously presented an invented COD policy as a strength. It is not one, and that example has been removed.
ChatGPT
Website: chat.openai.com
Free tier: Yes, on the free model tier; the strongest models need a paid plan
Best for: Technical users who want full control
ChatGPT can generate excellent FAQ content - but only if you know how to prompt it correctly. A bad prompt gives you generic, unhelpful output. A good prompt (with tone, format, specific business details, and output structure specified) gives you genuinely useful FAQ content.
The problem: most small business owners don't have time to learn prompt engineering. And even when they do, ChatGPT gives you raw text - no hosted page, no embed widget, no chatbot, no reply templates. You're doing a lot more work to get a usable output.
Strengths: Highest ceiling for quality when prompted well. Supports 50+ languages. Free tier available.
Weaknesses: No hosted page. No embed widget. No chatbot. No reply templates. Significant prompt engineering required. Output format requires manual cleanup.
HelpScout Docs
Website: helpscout.com
Free tier: No (starts at $20/mo)
Best for: Teams already using HelpScout for customer support
HelpScout Docs is a knowledge base builder, not strictly an FAQ generator. It has AI-assisted writing that can help you draft articles, but it doesn't generate a complete FAQ from a business description the way Answrii does. You still have to manually create each question and answer.
The tool shines for teams who already manage customer support in HelpScout - the FAQ integrates seamlessly with their ticketing system. For a solo founder or small business owner starting from scratch, the setup complexity and monthly cost don't justify the choice.
Strengths: Beautiful output, good search functionality, integrates with support tickets, analytics on which FAQ articles are most viewed.
Weaknesses: Not an AI FAQ generator in the true sense. Expensive for small businesses. No free tier. Requires significant manual setup.
Jasper FAQ Generator
Website: jasper.ai
Free tier: 7-day trial only
Best for: Large content teams with budget
Jasper is an enterprise AI writing platform. Their FAQ generator produces high-quality content but is designed for marketing content, not operational customer support. At $39+/month with no permanent free tier, it's expensive for small businesses who just need a FAQ page.
The output quality is excellent for marketing-oriented FAQs but lacks the business-specific operational detail (shipping times, payment methods, return policies) that small business customer support FAQs need.
Strengths: Highest writing quality for marketing content, team collaboration features, brand voice training.
Weaknesses: Expensive, no permanent free tier, no hosted FAQ page, no chatbot, not designed for operational customer support.
Simplified FAQ Generator
Website: simplified.com
Free tier: Yes
Best for: One-off FAQ generation, content creators
Simplified offers an AI FAQ generator as part of their broader content creation suite. The tool generates FAQ content quickly from a topic or description. The output quality is decent for general topics but less specific for business-specific FAQs - it tends toward generic answers rather than business-specific ones.
No hosted page, no embed widget, no chatbot, no support templates. It's a pure text generator. Good for content creators who need FAQ sections for blog posts or landing pages; less suitable for small businesses that need a complete customer support solution.
Strengths: Fast, clean UI, generous free tier, part of a broader content suite.
Weaknesses: Generic output quality, no hosted page, no business-specific features, no multilingual native generation.
Tidio FAQ Builder
Website: tidio.com
Free tier: Limited
Best for: Businesses that want live chat + FAQ combined
Tidio is primarily a live chat platform that added FAQ functionality. The FAQ builder lets you create a knowledge base that powers both a FAQ page and a chatbot. The AI assistance is basic - it helps write individual answers but doesn't generate a complete FAQ from a description.
Setup is more complex than dedicated FAQ tools, and the pricing jumps significantly when you need advanced features. The chatbot is polished and the live chat integration is excellent - but if you just want a FAQ page, Tidio is overkill.
Strengths: Strong live chat integration, good chatbot, polished UI, mobile app available.
Weaknesses: No bulk FAQ generation from business description. Complex pricing. Overkill for small businesses that just need a FAQ page.
Writesonic FAQ Generator
Website: writesonic.com
Free tier: Limited (10,000 words/mo on free plan)
Best for: Content marketers, SEO writers
Writesonic's FAQ generator is part of their AI writing platform. It generates FAQ content quickly and the output is generally well-written. However, like most general AI writing tools, it lacks the business-specific intelligence that makes FAQs actually useful for customer support.
No hosted page. No chatbot. No reply templates. Strong for SEO-focused FAQ content that targets specific keywords; weak for operational customer support FAQs.
Strengths: Good writing quality, SEO-focused output, integrates with their broader writing workflow.
Weaknesses: No hosted page, no chatbot, no business-specific support templates, limited free tier.

Two rows that used to be here have been removed. Starting price changed too often to be trusted in a static table; check each vendor's pricing page. Setup time claimed thirty seconds for Answrii against hours for two named products, and nothing measured either figure, so it was a marketing claim dressed as data rather than a comparison.
Which AI FAQ Generator Should You Choose?
Choose Answrii if: You're a small business, freelancer, e-commerce store, coach, or local service business. You want a complete solution - FAQ + support templates + hosted page + chatbot - without paying enterprise prices. Especially if you need multilingual support.
Choose ChatGPT if: You're technically comfortable, willing to spend time on prompting, and want maximum flexibility. Good for one-off projects where you don't need hosting or embedding.
Choose HelpScout if: You're already using HelpScout for customer support and want your FAQ integrated with your ticketing system.
Choose Tidio if: You want live chat + FAQ + chatbot in one platform and have budget for it.
Choose Simplified or Writesonic if: You're a content marketer generating FAQ sections for blog posts and SEO content - not for customer support.
Choose Jasper if: You're an enterprise content team with budget and need the highest quality marketing-oriented FAQ content.
Once you have chosen a tool
If you have landed on Answrii, you can create your FAQ with the AI FAQ generator without an account: five generations a day on the free plan, and publishing a live page needs a sign-in.
The full walkthrough, including what to fix in the draft before anyone reads it, is in our step-by-step guide to creating an FAQ page with AI. If you would rather write the answers yourself, how to build an FAQ page from your real customer questions covers that instead.
FAQ
What is the best free AI FAQ generator?
It depends on what you need it to do, which is why this article compares purposes rather than crowning a winner. If you want raw text and you are comfortable prompting, a general model costs nothing. If you want a page you can publish and embed without a developer, you need a tool that hosts it. Answrii, which publishes this article, is in the second group: five generations a day with no account, and a sign-in to publish.
Can AI FAQ generators create FAQs in Hindi?
Yes. In Answrii you pick the output language before generating, from 35+ including Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and Gujarati, and the answers are written in that language rather than translated from English afterwards. Read the result in that language before publishing it.
How long does it take to generate a FAQ page with AI?
Generation time varies with the model, how much source material you give it and how many questions you ask for, so nobody can honestly quote you a number. The part that takes real time is not the generating: it is reading every answer and correcting the prices, policies and timings before you publish.
Are AI-generated FAQs accurate?
The accuracy depends on the quality of your input. Provide detailed, specific information about your business and the output will be accurate. Always review before publishing.
Can I use an AI FAQ generator for a Shopify store?
Yes. Answrii's embed code works on Shopify, WordPress, Wix, Webflow, and any website that supports JavaScript.
Do AI FAQ generators help with SEO?
An FAQ page helps because it answers the questions people search for, on a page they can find. Be careful with the schema argument, though: Google restricted FAQ rich results to well-known authoritative government and health sites, so a commercial FAQ page will not earn that rich result no matter how correct its markup is. Answrii does emit FAQPage structured data on published pages, and it is generated from the visible questions so the two cannot drift apart, but treat it as helping a machine understand the page rather than as a ticket to a rich result.
What's the difference between an AI FAQ generator and a chatbot?
An AI FAQ generator creates written FAQ content. An AI chatbot uses that FAQ content to answer customer questions in real-time conversation. Answrii does both - generate your FAQ, then enable the chatbot to answer questions from it.
Decided which kind of tool you need? You can generate a first FAQ draft on the free plan without an account, then edit every answer before anyone sees it.
