QR Code FAQ Pages: How Local Shops Are Automating Customer Questions

Print a QR code that links to your FAQ page. Customers scan to see hours, menu, pricing, and policies. Perfect for restaurants, salons, and retail shops.

The repetitive question problem in local businesses

Every local business has a set of questions that customers ask dozens of times per day. A restaurant gets asked about the menu, delivery areas, and whether they accept UPI. A salon gets asked about pricing, appointment availability, and what to expect during a service. A retail shop gets asked about return policies, store hours, and whether they have a specific item in stock.

Staff answer these questions patiently the first ten times. By the fiftieth time, the answers become shorter, less helpful, and sometimes frustrated. Phone lines get tied up with callers asking basic questions while walk-in customers wait. During busy hours, staff have to choose between serving customers in front of them and answering calls from potential customers with questions.

This problem exists because customers do not have a self-service way to get basic information about your business. Your Google listing might show hours and location, but it does not cover your full menu, pricing, booking process, cancellation policy, or service details. Your Instagram page might show photos of your work, but customers still need to DM you for practical information.

The gap between the information customers need and the information they can access without asking you directly is what creates the repetitive question cycle.

How QR codes bridge offline and online

QR codes solve a specific problem for local businesses that websites and social media cannot: they work at the physical point of contact. A website requires the customer to search for you online. A social media page requires them to find and follow you. A QR code requires nothing except pointing their phone camera at a printed code.

When a customer walks into your shop and sees a QR code on the counter, they can scan it and see your complete FAQ page in seconds. No app download, no search, no follow required. Just a phone camera and an internet connection, which virtually every customer already has.

This is why QR codes became so widespread during the pandemic for restaurant menus. Customers proved they are willing to scan QR codes for information when the code is placed in the right context. A QR code on your counter, table, window, or packaging is in exactly the right context because the customer is already at your business and already has questions.

Setting up your QR code FAQ page step by step

The entire process from describing your business to printing a QR code takes about 5-10 minutes.

Step 1: List every question your customers ask

Before generating your FAQ page, spend 10 minutes listing every question your staff answers repeatedly. Walk through a typical customer interaction from start to finish and note every point where a customer might have a question.

For a restaurant, this might be: What is on the menu? What are the prices? Do you have vegetarian and vegan options? Do you deliver? What areas do you deliver to? What is the delivery charge? What are your hours? Do you accept UPI and credit cards? Can I make a reservation? Do you have parking? Is there outdoor seating? Do you cater events? What allergens are in your food? Do you have a kids menu?

For a salon, this might be: What services do you offer? What are your prices? How do I book an appointment? Can I walk in? How long does each service take? What brands or products do you use? What is your cancellation policy? Do you have parking? What should I do before my appointment? Do you offer bridal packages? Do you have packages for men?

For a retail shop, this might be: What are your store hours? What is your return policy? Do you accept UPI? Do you offer alterations? Do you gift wrap? Do you have a loyalty program? Can I order online? Do you deliver? What brands do you carry?

Write down every question you can think of, including the ones that seem obvious. If a customer has ever asked it, it belongs on your FAQ page.

Step 2: Generate your FAQ page

Go to answrii.com/tools/faq-generator and paste all the information you gathered. Include your business name, what you do, your services or menu, pricing, hours, location, policies, and the list of common questions. Paste it as raw text, bullet points, or however you have it. The AI will organize it.

Select the language your customers speak. If your customers primarily speak Hindi, generate the FAQ in Hindi. If you serve a mix of Hindi and English speakers, you can generate two separate FAQ pages, one in each language, and use separate QR codes for each.

Click Generate. In about 30 seconds you will see a complete FAQ page with 10-15 structured questions and answers, plus customer support reply templates.

Step 3: Review and customize

Read through the generated FAQ. The AI generates answers based on what you provided, so review each answer for accuracy. Add specific details that are important for your business: exact delivery pin codes, specific brand names you carry, exact reservation process, specific parking instructions.

Edit anything that needs adjustment. You can do this during initial generation and also later from your Answrii dashboard at any time.

Step 4: Publish your FAQ page

Click Publish. Your FAQ page goes live immediately with a URL like answrii.com/faq/your-business-name. You can customize the URL slug and choose a theme color that matches your brand.

At this point, you already have a shareable link that works on its own. You can share this link via WhatsApp, add it to your Google Business Profile, or include it in your Instagram bio. But for a local business, the QR code is where the real value is.

Step 5: Download your QR code

Go to your Answrii dashboard. You will see your published FAQ page listed under "Published FAQ Pages." Click the QR code icon next to it.

A modal opens showing a preview of your branded QR code with your business name at the top and "Powered by Answrii" at the bottom. Download it as PNG for printing or SVG for high-resolution or large-format printing.

Step 6: Print and place your QR code

This is where the QR code needs to be placed strategically based on your business type.

Where to place your QR code for maximum impact

The effectiveness of a QR code depends entirely on placement. A QR code hidden in a corner that nobody notices is useless. A QR code placed at the exact moment when a customer has a question is powerful.

Restaurants and cafes

Table tents or table stickers: Place a small QR code card on every table. This is the most effective placement because customers are already seated and have their phones out. The card can say "View full menu, allergen info, and delivery options" with the QR code below.

Counter display: Place a printed QR code at the ordering counter. Customers waiting in line can scan it to browse the menu before reaching the counter, which speeds up the ordering process.

Delivery packaging: Print the QR code on delivery bags or include it as a flyer inside delivery orders. Customers scan it for reorder information, menu updates, and your delivery areas.

Window or entrance: Place a QR code visible from outside the restaurant. Passersby who are curious about your menu can scan it without coming inside. This turns foot traffic into informed potential customers.

Salons and spas

Reception desk: Place the QR code where customers check in. While waiting for their appointment, they can scan it to browse services, prices, and aftercare instructions.

Waiting area: If you have a waiting area, place QR codes on the coffee table or wall. Customers waiting for their turn can browse your full service list and might add on additional services.

Treatment rooms: Place QR codes in treatment rooms with a message like "Post-treatment care instructions and rebooking info." This gives clients aftercare information they would otherwise call to ask about later.

Business cards: Replace or supplement the information on your business card with a QR code. Instead of cramming prices and services onto a small card, the QR code links to your complete FAQ page with everything a potential customer needs to know.

Retail shops

Checkout counter: Place a QR code at the checkout with a message about return policy, exchange process, and care instructions. Customers scan it while their purchase is being billed and have all policy information saved on their phone.

Product displays: For products that generate a lot of questions (like electronics, appliances, or specialized items), place a QR code near the display that links to a product-specific FAQ.

Shopping bags: Print your QR code on shopping bags. Every bag becomes a portable advertisement for your business information. When the customer gets home and has a question about care instructions or returns, they scan the bag.

Store entrance: Place a QR code at the entrance with store hours, current promotions, and policies. Customers who arrive when you are closed can scan it to find your hours and plan their visit.

Service businesses

Vehicles: If you have service vehicles (plumbing, electrical, cleaning), add a QR code sticker. People who see your vehicle in their neighborhood can scan it to learn about your services, pricing, and service areas.

Flyers and brochures: Replace lengthy text on flyers with a QR code. A flyer with a compelling headline and a QR code is more effective than a flyer packed with small text that nobody reads.

Invoice or receipt: Add a QR code to your invoices or receipts. Customers can scan it for warranty information, service guarantees, rebooking, or referral programs.

Measuring the impact of your QR code FAQ page

After placing QR codes in your business, track these indicators over the first 30 days:

FAQ page views: Check your Answrii dashboard to see how many times your FAQ page is being viewed. This tells you how many customers are actually scanning the QR code and using the FAQ.

Phone call volume: If you track the number of customer calls you receive daily, compare the volume before and after adding QR codes. A decrease in calls asking basic questions (hours, menu, prices) indicates the QR code is working.

Staff feedback: Ask your staff whether they are noticing fewer repetitive questions from walk-in customers. Staff are the best source of qualitative feedback on whether the QR code is changing customer behavior.

Customer feedback: Some customers will mention that they scanned the QR code. Note this feedback. If customers are proactively telling you they found the QR code helpful, you know it is working.

Common mistakes to avoid

Placing the QR code where nobody can see it. A QR code tucked behind the cash register or printed in tiny font on a cluttered poster will never get scanned. Place it at eye level in high-traffic areas where customers naturally pause (tables, counters, waiting areas).

Making the QR code too small. The QR code needs to be at least 2 x 2 centimeters for close-range scanning (like a table tent) and larger for distance scanning (like a window or wall sign). Download the SVG version from Answrii for high-quality printing at any size.

Not telling customers what the QR code is for. A QR code by itself is just a square of dots. Add a short line of text above or below it: "Scan for menu and prices" or "Scan for our FAQ" or "Questions? Scan here." Context drives scans.

Using a FAQ page with outdated information. If your hours change seasonally, your prices change, or you add new services, update your FAQ page. Use the edit feature in your Answrii dashboard to keep information current. A customer who scans your QR code and finds wrong hours or old prices will lose trust immediately.

Creating one FAQ page for multiple locations. If you have multiple branches with different hours, menus, or services, create a separate FAQ page and QR code for each location. Each location's QR code should link to information specific to that branch.

Getting started

A QR code FAQ page is one of the simplest, most cost-effective improvements you can make to your local business. The setup takes about 10 minutes. The printing costs a few rupees. The time savings start on day one.

Every question a customer answers by scanning instead of asking is time your staff gets back. Every phone call you do not have to answer is a phone line freed up for bookings and orders. Every customer who finds information easily has a better experience with your business.
